Mutazila Attacking Muhadditheen for narrating contradictory Ahadeeth

The childish brain level of people of kalaam
—————–

The childish brain level of people of kalaam  make them put forward such baseless accusations. Against the Ahl al-hadeeth (Muhadditheen) of his time, the Mu`tazili scholars an-Nazzam (D. 231 A.H) in his frustration said :

How can it be said that they are free from errors, tell no lies, display no ignorance and do not contradict one another, when those of them who relate from the Prophet sallalahu `alayhi  wa sallam that he said :

” No contagion and no omens in Islam” and that he (sallalahu `alayhi wa sallam) also said in a hadeeth:  “… so who infected the first (camel then?)”  [1]

and these Ahl al-hadeeth are the same ones who contradicted the above by also narrating that the prophet said :

“Flee from the leper as you would flee from the lion” [2] and that when a leper came to pledge his loyalty to him as a Muslim he (sallalahu `alayhi wa sallam) sent someone else on his behalf and did not allow the leper to come close out of fear of being infected” [3]

The answer to this is so simple. Had Allah granted this Mu`tazili scholar the IQ of a 14 year for example to very basic understand revolving around the verse

“and do not throw yourselves into destruction”[al-Baqarah 2:195]

and the prophetic hadeeth ” tie your camel first and then leave it relying on allah”

shows that the prophet wanted to teach us that in essence, in asl, in reality and fact the diseases in itself, by themselves had no power to infect anyone whatsoever. It all happens by the will of Allah and to prove this to his on-lookers he even sat and ate with a leeper without being harmed. After doing so he then left guidance for his followers by teaching them that now that you have seen and learnt that everything happens by the will of Allah, now you have to adopt caution for this is not only rational but also the command of allah as he said

“and do not throw yourselves into destruction”[al-Baqarah 2:195]

So cautioning ourselves is for our safety both in accordance to our religion first and our rationality later on as life is a test thus if you don’t take caution in your test you will fail.
